LG Innotech Develops World's First 2.4" VGA SPR LCD Module for Mobile
LG Innotech Co. Ltd. announced that it has developed the world's first 2.4-inch VGA resolution sub-pixel rendering (SPR) LCD module for mobile products, in cooperation with BOE-Hydis Technology Co. Ltd.
A noteworthy fact is the use of the SPR algorithm. With not only the conventional three colors, red, green and blue, but also white sub-pixels, SPR yields more advanced resolution on the LCD screen than the actual one.
For example, an LCD panel featuring a 66.7% (640*320) resolution compared with VGA resolution can support a VGA (640*480) resolution using SPR technology, according to the company.
LG Innotech has been working on development of the module part including driver IC, timing controller and backlight, and BOE-Hydis' proprietary Advanced Fringe Field Switching (AFFS) wide viewing angle technology was employed.
